Dr. Timothy Lavoie studied biology at Wilkes University before earning his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, where he graduated as the youngest veterinarian from his class. He then went on to complete his clinical year of study at Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to VESH, Dr. Lavoie worked as a technician in General Practice at Riverlin Animal Hospital and Hillside Veterinary Clinic.

During his veterinary education, Dr. Lavoie was known for his work with wildlife conservation, particularly in fostering and rehabilitating birds. He also volunteered his time at Companion Animal Alliance, contributing to spaying and neutering efforts. Dr. Lavoie's interests outside of work include hiking, birdwatching, attending car meets, and supporting Boston and New England sports teams, as well as LSU. Additionally, he co-parents a 3-legged “coconut-retriever” ( a term used for the island dog breed ) named Leddy, with his girlfriend.
