Specialized Treatment For Your Furry Family Members
As an emergency and specialty referral hospital, VESH does not offer routine veterinary care like annual wellness checkups, vaccinations, or flea and tick prevention. Our focus is on delivering advanced diagnostics and veterinary medicine for ailing pets in much the same way that medical specialists support seriously ill people.
Our experts collaborate with your primary care veterinarian to evaluate and manage treatment when your pet is suffering from injury, trauma, chronic issues, acute disease, or an unusual disorder that requires the in-depth knowledge of a trained specialist. Throughout your pet’s care at VESH, we keep your vet’s office up to date and supply copies of all medical records so they can be centrally maintained.

Our Story
At Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospitals (VESH) we have provided highly effective, advanced veterinary medicine combined with deeply compassionate care in a nurturing environment since 2006. We serve the Pioneer Valley, Southern Vermont, Southern New Hampshire, as well as Northern Connecticut.
We started in South Deerfield in a 10,300 sq. ft. facility offering emergency care to the pets in the area. As we grew, we expanded our offerings to include specialty services, advanced diagnostics, and cutting-edge equipment. We provide expert medical care to our patients while offering compassionate, exceptional customer service to our clients. At VESH, we are also committed to partnering in care with our local veterinary primary care providers – ensuring comprehensive medical care and collaboration for every patient that comes through our doors.
In 2023, we were proud to expand our footprint and grow our team to open a second, 12,000 sq. ft. emergency and specialty hospital in West Springfield, MA. Our unparalleled quality of medicine and service sets VESH apart and positions us as the preferred provider of emergency and specialty veterinary medicine in our region.
VESH is thrilled to support UMass Life Flight and Nero’s Law
UMass Memorial LifeFlight provides expert critical care air transport services throughout Central Massachusetts and beyond. Nero's Law authorizes emergency medical service personnel to provide emergency treatment and transport of K-9 partners, including basic first aid, CPR, and administering life-saving interventions such as naloxone. The flight crews are prepared to respond, treat, and transport ill and injured police K9s to appropriate veterinary hospitals. VESH South Deerfield is proud to partner with UMass Memorial Life Flight as a selected provider of 24/7 Emergency Care to work with K9s throughout the state of Massachusetts.
